Chabudai


In fact, the history of the model of Chabudai is very old.
It was a complete class society in old Japan. Therefore, all Japanese did not have a custom that people ate at the same table for a long period.

In the days of Edo, the old Japanese ate in Meimei-zen at home. . . However, new culture was introduced by in the Meiji era. Western’s style tables were imported to Japan. At first, Japanese people were not accepted easily the table.
A lot of tables which added a leg to be able to fold to appeared at the middle of the Meiji era. It may be said that this is a beginning of Chabudai.
