Shoji

Shoji is the door of the Japanese house or a housing part used at a window.
Originally the screen which blocked the view such as the screen was called “Shoji” generally.
But, screen called “Hikari-Shoji” which could take in light from the outside by putting thin paper appeared in the latter half in the Heian era.

Shoji can take in light. Also it can shut out the view. This was epoch-making in the times of old days. Shoji became the housing part which was indispensable to a Japanese house in the Edo era. And shoji developed in proportion to the evolution of the times, too.
